When to use
Use when a single number or annotated chart is the story. Do not use for MECE option tables or cloud topology.
Hallmarks
- Warm editorial board. One loud accent.
- Hero number or annotated chart; supporting labels are small.
- One display-scale number is enough; do not also dump a 12-row table.
- Reading order is obvious: number → why it matters → one caveat.
Anti-patterns
- Clip-art metaphors that do not encode data.
- Consulting density with infographic colors.
- 3D charts, rainbow series, and unlabeled axes.
